There was pandemonium at Amagu-Uwani, Mgboko, Aku of Igbo-Etiti local government area, Enugu state on Monday, August 8, when a herbalist, Ekene Oluka, allegedly shot and killed a 13-year-old boy, Obumuneme Oluka, while testing his anti-bullet charm on him.
The 26-year-old herbalist who is now at large was said to have successfully tested his charms, which was said to protect against bullets and cutlass on different occasions, Vanguard reports.
On that fateful day, the herbalist reportedly fired a shot after covering Obumuneme’s body with his concoction.
The anti-bullet charm failed as the shot went through his vital organs, leaving him unconscious.
Confirming the incident, the police public relations officer in the state, Ebere Amaraizu, said the command has started a manhunt for the herbalist who has deserted his home alongside his parents.
He said: “The herbalist, Ekene Oluka, from the same kindred with the deceased, had allegedly tested his charms for protection against guns on the deceased. It was further gathered that the suspect had earlier tested that of cutlass on the deceased, which allegedly worked out for him.
“However, this time it did not work, which caused severe injury on the head of the deceased, leaving him unconscious.”
Amaraizu stated that Obumuneme was confirmed dead at the hospital he was rushed to. And his body has been deposited at the hospital mortuary of Attah Memorial Hospital, Aku.
Some youths in Nigeria, especially armed robbers and cultists are know for patronizing herbalists who prepare anti-bullet charms for them. Many of them have lost their lives after the charm failed.
Last month, Andrew Awalebi, a 35-year-old cult leader, was arrested by security operatives and he revealed that no amount of gun shot can penetrate his body.
