As unbelievable as it sounds, the ministry of Niger-Delta Affairs has only completed just one project since it was established in 2008.

This was made known by the minister in charge of the ministry, , Mr Uguru Usani.

The minister who revealed this while speaking in Abuja said the only project completed by the ministry so far in 8 years is a cassava processing plant in Ondo State by the present administration.

Speaking on the deadly activites of the Niger Delta Avengers, the minister said no matter the provocation, it was wrong for the group to destroy the environment that bore the peoples’ heritage.

“Let us come together as one to protect our communities. Let us preach love, peace, tolerance, patience and dialogue with one another. Let us convince ourselves that it is our region and that we have nowhere to go to, if we destroy it,” he said.

He said that the region was everybody’s business and that no personal or collective interest was worth the destruction of oil pipelines in the region.

Recall that the minister recently spoke about the reawakening of militancy in the region He explained how much his ministry is involved in addressing the restiveness.

Minister Usani said: “My ministry is deeply involved while the operational action is performed by the security agencies. But I must say that the environment is ours and destroying it will not do us any good.
